The Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group (GICM) was formed in the late 1990s and aims to establish an Islamic state in Morocco. The group interacts with other North African terror groups, such as the LIFG and the GSPC (now known as "Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb"). It is believed that most of the militants of the GICM have trained in camps in Afghanistan, and therefore are associated with Al-Qaeda elements.
The GICM is believed to have been involved in the Casablanca suicide bombings in May 2003. Members of the group seem to be part of logistical support networks with European links as well.
